Russ Gershon: Saxophone
Russ Gershon is the founder and leader of the ten-piece Either/Orchestra, which the Chicago Tribune calls "the future of big-band music," and New York Newsday calls "one of the most innovative large ensembles in jazz." He was nominated for an arranging Grammy in 1992, has won five Boston Music Awards, and has written an extensive catalog of jazz, rock, Latin, Ethiopian and classical compositions and arrangements. In addition to his jazz credentials, he grew up on the Boston rock scene playing with artists like the Sex Execs, Willie Alexander, Mark Sandman and Roger Miller. Along the way, he founded Accurate Records, an independent label which has issued albums by Morphine, Medeski Martin & Wood, the Jazz Mandolin Project and the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, among 100 other titles.
